Lite and Pro
References in a note¶
A reference is a wiki link written as [[target]]. It can point at another note, a board, a task, or a Unity object. Clicking a working reference opens or selects that target.
An embed written as ![[target]] is a separate thing, with its own limit.
Nexum Lite
3 references
The first three wiki links in the note work. Later ones stay in the text as locked chips.
Nexum Pro
Every reference
Every wiki link in the note opens its target. There is no count.
How Lite counts¶
- Lite follows the first 3 references in a note, in the order they appear in the text.
- Fenced code and inline code are skipped, so an example written inside a code block does not use a slot.
- You can keep typing and pasting references. Nothing is deleted from the note.
- References past the first 3 stay in the text and render as a locked chip: red, with a lock, instead of the usual link. Clicking a locked chip shows the edition window and does not open the target.
- Removing an earlier reference frees a slot. The next reference in the text becomes the one that works, because Nexum counts the live document each time it draws.
- The same target used twice counts twice.
What stays the same¶
The editor stays fully usable. Locked references are still text in the file. They are left in the source: Nexum does not strip them, rewrite them, or hide them from source view.

Related¶
-
![[target]]previews, counted separately from wiki links. -
The note has to be unlocked before its references can open.

A working reference is what the relation view can follow.
