Frequently Asked Questions¶
What is Nexum?
Nexum is a connected Unity Editor workspace for development memory - notes, Unity project context, resources, kanban work, and relationships in one place. The product line is Write. Plan. Connect.
Does Nexum replace Notion, Jira, or my studio tracker?
No. Nexum is a fast, local, Unity-native place for the work around the work. Use it for investigations, asset context, TODOs, console captures, and boards that need to stay next to the project. Keep your studio stack for whatever it already does well.
How do I open Nexum?
In Unity: Tools → DivinityCodes → Nexum.
Where are my notes stored?
By default, Nexum uses the Notes folder next to the Nexum install (ToolLocation/Notes). Imported media defaults to a Resources folder inside that workspace. Both can be changed in Nexum → Preferences… → Workspace.
What happens on first launch?
If no tabs are restored, Nexum seeds and opens Welcome.md. After a full workspace reset, Welcome is recreated from the packaged template.
How do wiki links work?
Type [[ to open suggestions. Clicking a link to a note that does not exist yet creates and opens it. You can also use [[Note Name|label]] and [[Note Name#Heading]].
How do I attach a Prefab or other Unity object?
Drag from the Project window or Hierarchy onto a note, then choose reference or embed. Unity drops onto the Files explorer are rejected - use the note surface or a Kanban board.
How do I capture Console errors?
Select rows in the Unity Console, focus the Console, then press the Create Ticket shortcut (Cmd+Shift+K / Ctrl+Shift+K by default). Nexum opens Capture Console so you can create a note or a task. Captured rows are stored as nexum-console fences.
What comment markers does Annotations find?
Primary kinds: TODO, FIXME (FIX, BUG), NOTE (REVIEW), HACK (OPTIMIZE), IDEA, QUESTION (ASK, XXX, INVESTIGATE). From the Annotation Center you can jump to source, create a task, or create a note.
What is a Task Note?
A Markdown note owned by a Kanban ticket. Use it when the card description is not enough. Create it from the ticket inspector. The title follows the ticket; rename the ticket to rename the note.
What does Reset Workspace do?
Nexum → Storage Diagnostics… → Reset Workspace permanently deletes notes, boards, resources, relations, annotation links, identities, and the search database for the current notes folder. Unity project assets outside the notes folder are not touched. Welcome.md is then recreated.
Can I change shortcuts?
Go to File and Create Ticket are rebindable under Preferences → Shortcuts. New Note and New Kanban Board are shown for reference. Platform modifiers follow the Editor (⌘ on macOS, Ctrl on Windows/Linux).
Where do I get help inside the product?
Help → Documentation opens this site. Help → Report an Issue opens the issue tracker. Help → About Nexum shows version and product links. Nexum → Preferences… covers workspace and writing options.
